Too much of anything is bad, but too much champagne is just right

HAPPY CHAMPAGNE THURSDAY, my treasures!

Why not pop open a bottle of fizz, and celebrate the sheer joy of being young and alive?

I had a FABULOUS treat day in London with mia madre yesterday, playing at being Uptown Girls! We wandered, awestruck, through the Da Vinci exhibition at the National Gallery... picked out some truly sumptuous lingerie from the Fortnum & Mason's sale... and, best of all, splashed out in the Rivoli Bar at The Ritz!

Oh. My. Greg. Peck. The 'Ritz 100' was the most scrumptious cocktail I have ever tasted!! Champagne, vodka, peach liqueur, Grand Marnier, and... best of all... flecks of 24 carat gold! It's the classiest I've ever felt!!

And not just because of the deliciousness of our drinks... The Rivoli Bar is a haven of old-fashioned gentility and style. The spotlessly tuxedo-d waiters attended charmingly to our every whim... Everyone sat amongst the gold mirrors and ice buckets of champagne in their Sunday best... At Fortnum & Mason's, when the confectionery counter had run out of marzipan strawberries, the assistant darted over to the truffles and brought us back some complimentary strawberry chocolates as an apology!

Heart-sinkingly unaffordable as it is, that's what I love about the old money haunts of the big city... The reminder that class isn't snobbery or splashing the cash - it is elegance, grace, good manners. And that bit of the lifestyle, at least, is free!

"My advice is to go ahead and wear an apron when you’re cooking dinner. Always send a handwritten thank you note on your personal stationary. Enjoy tea served from an actual tea pot. Put your cigarettes in a case. Dream. Dress up when you go out. Be polite. Believe in art and its incredible power to reach across ethnic and social boundaries to enhance our souls. Ditch the handhelds when you’re out. Listen to Mozart. Watch 'It Happened One Night.' Live elegantly.
And enjoy it while it lasts."

Love this!!! Me and my love do this all the time. Get all dressed up and go to a rediculously expensive classy dinner in the city instead of a rediculously expensive cheesy prom. So much fun!!!
