...added to this (s)he had an odd sense of humour, a strange idea of dress and is disruptive with other hares...There, what do you think of that for a reference?'

I really do seem to be a Redwall hare, down to my proverbial bobtail! My friend just sent me these pictures she took of me whilst on our walk to Grantchester, and they made me laugh at my own mischeviousness!:-

Being reprimanded for getting my jacket covered in soot from the burnt tree...

“Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You’re walking along, minding your own business. You’re looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head’s in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you’re walking on air. And then you know what? You’re knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!”

Bambi, via half-heartedlyThis is how I felt when the camerado and I went on one of our 'Let's-go-and-try-on-dresses-we-can't-afford' sprees, and I saw this dress.

A
white Marilyn prom dress by Manoush. It really is the most perfectly fitting garment I have ever worn - the soft, elasticated, but fitted waist; the layers of bouncing petticoats... like lying in a Lush bath filled with silk, snowdrop petals and tulle! I instantly felt like Spenser's Faerie Queene, or at the very least a member of the 'Golden Afternoon' singing flower ensemble from
Alice in Wonderland. Oh, it was divine! I even
dreamt about it last night!
It reminded me of Carrie's famous pink puffball dress from the opening credits of SATC. Only better...
Me, weeping because I can't have it. £336...

The camerado fell in love with this gorgeous Vivienne Westwood number, too - alas, it was in the same price range. I wish with all my heart that tomorrow she receives a large, beautifully wrapped and beribboned box, with this message:-
[Replacing 'Carrie' with 'the mysterious Camerado,' and 'from the Vogue shoot' with 'on Sparkles and Crumbs,' of course. *Sigh!*]

Still, she found this divine Ingrid Bergman-in-Casablanca-esque hat in one of our charity shop treasure troves...

...and greatly appreciated the red velvet cloak I could finally deliver to her for her birthday. Now we can be like Juliette Binoche in
Chocolat - we can don our capes when we next go a-travelling!

Personally, for now I am divinely contented - I have just had my interview with an ARC Project recruiter confirmed for the start of next term! If I manage to impress, I could be flying to Florence for three weeks come July, living in a Tuscan abbey and guiding theological tours of the Duomo by day! Oh, if only....

My favourite house in our neighbourhood - reminds me of Rilke's:
"And now my hand is in yours,
they listen to what your blood whispers,
they invent a kindly countenance
to match these hands that are in your own.
A wise one, that does you honour,
a quiet one, that hears soft murmurings,
a deep one, which, behind its rustling beard,
remains as calm as behind oak-crowns
through which a storm speaks, a very quiet house
in which you wouldn't fear to dwell."
Listening to: Amos Lee's Colors
Reading: 'The Food Of Love' by Anthony Capella
Thinking:
"Always be a first rate version of yourself, instead of a second rate version of somebody else."

Hello! Wonderful frothy white dress! If only we all had more opportunities to wear such glorious creations! Or to be as eccentric as Emily Dickinson...! Thank you for the link, I am delighted that you are enjoying the quote. I've been fond of it for many years, since first discovering it over a decade ago in Sarah Ban Breathnach's "Simple Abundance" - do take a look if you don't know this book already, I'm sure you'd like it. Happy weekend. Fingers crossed for a positive response to the interview. D x
